St John’s College Service
We acknowledge that a St John’s College education is a privilege, and many of our students live in a “bubble”
with little awareness of the broader realities of their country, region or indeed, world.
Central to our outreach programmes are our core values of empathy and respect. From tutoring at a less advantaged school to playing soccer with orphans, to working with the Paediatric Oncology Ward, to setting up a computer room in a rural school, we hope to awaken in our young men, a concern for their broader community which will last throughout their lives.
This concern for others also extends to our internal community through our Servant Mentorship programme which fosters bonds between seniors and juniors while developing our seniors’ leadership skills. As bonds are forged and positive behaviour modelled, our internal community will be strengthened and our values entrenched.
Through a philosophy of Service, we aim to raise young men who are the visible embodiment of our core values of Empathy, Integrity and Respect who go forward as principled leaders to have a lasting, positive impact on our broader society.
