In our Early Years program, we follow the Cambridge Curriculum, which provides

a well-structured and engaging framework for learning.

Our curriculum is designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, preparing our boys for success in all areas of life.

Creative Development

Research has shown that music exposure in early childhood enhances

language skills, memory, and spatial-temporal skills.

Singing songs and reciting nursery rhymes help children develop phonological awareness, literacy skills, and language abilities. Music’s rhythmic patterns and melodies stimulate brain development, improving memory and concentration

Social and emotional growth are also significantly influenced by music. Singing and playing instruments with others foster a sense of community, cooperation, and mutual respect. Music provides an outlet for self-expression, allowing children to convey emotions and develop empathy.

Physically, music encourages movement and coordination through dance, clapping, and playing instruments. This helps develop gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and overall physical awareness.

Incorporating music into early years education is essential for creating a well-rounded learning environment. It provides a unique platform for children to explore, express themselves, and connect with others. By making music and art integral parts of early childhood education, we give children the gift of creativity, and self-expression.

Physical Development

In the early years, children develop and refine their fine and gross motor skills,

laying the foundation for future success in various aspects of life.

Fine motor skills, which involve precise movements of the hands, fingers, and wrists, are essential for tasks like writing, drawing, and using utensils.

Gross motor skills, which encompass larger movements of the arms, legs, and torso, are vital for overall physical fitness, balance, coordination and sport.

Both fine and gross motor skills are interconnected and influence each other’s development.

At the ECD Centre we believe that it is crucial to provide a balanced and integrated approach to motor skill development, offering a range of activities that cater to different learning styles and abilities. By doing so, we empower our boys to develop the foundational skills necessary for future success in writing, sports, and everyday life.

Outdoor Learning

At the ECD we incorporate outdoor learning into

our Early Years curriculum.

Outdoor learning is important for a child’s overall development, offering a wide range of benefits that enhance their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth. It enhances their curiosity and creativity, offers an opportunity to problem solve, improves physical and mental health and gives our boys access to sunshine and fresh air! Our approach to indoor/outdoor learning further consolidates our objective to provide a holistic education which extends beyond the classroom walls.
